What is Diatomaceous Earth?

Diatomaceous earth (DE) is a soft naturally occurring sedimentary rock that was formed from fossilized hard-shelled microalgae called diatoms. It is easily crumbled into powder form of various densities.

How is DE used?

Regularly applying diatomaceous earth can be very beneficial to succulents. DE can be sprinkled on the top of the soil or mixed into the soil. The primary reason is to keep your succulents free from harmful insects.

Diatomaceous earth helps absorb the excess water allowing the soil to dry, preventing rot and overwatering.
