Avonia quinaria is found in South-eastern Namibia to Bushmanland and north-eastern Namaqualand South Africa. Type locality near Lislap, Boshmannskarroo. Avonia quinaria grows in dry flats and gentle and slopes on quartzite and red sand , under severe conditions - hard soil, dazzling exposure, little rain, in dwarf shrub.
Caring for avonia
1) Avonia does well in cooler temperatures
2) Use a well draining, gritty soil mix
3) Water only when the raised root starts to turn soft, the main cause of death is overwatering leading to rot
4) Growing season is from March to October, avonia is winter dormant
5) Avonia prefers full sun to partial shade conditions
